Today I looked in to the online presentation programme Prezi. Initially I was looking in to it in order to see if it would bring anything extra to the groups presentation and how easy it would be to use.
I decided that the time it would take to learn how to use the programme effectively would be better used making the presentation on Keynote. This was because I felt that I would only be able to produce a very basic presentation from the programme and that Keynote would still be able to provide us with an effective and interesting presentation.
Today I interviewed James from John Lewis. I asked him questions such as what type of product are older customers buying, how much are they spending and what reasons have you picked up on them using it for? One of the main things I found out was that even in a store with many different brands available, many of the customers seemed to still be buying Apple products and for very similar reasons as in Apple.
However, he also told me that many of the users who buy other equipment are often business types in their fifties, or older customers buying gifts for family.
After thinking about the interview that I had conducted with Mia I realised these results may not have been very representative of the older generations buying habits as, after all, it is only Apple's products available in their stores.
Therefore, I decided that I would try and conduct an interview with a member of John Lewis as they have more brand variety available for their technology. Therefore I may be able to discover if the older generation are going for higher end (arguably simpler, such as Apple) technology, or slightly cheaper, possibly harder to use systems.
Today I interviewed Mia, a member of staff at Apple's Liverpool store, about the older generations buying habits in Apple. Unsurprisingly, I found out that many older people were buying the iPad due to the successful campaigning of FaceTime and the ease of use of such device. The main reason for this was seemingly that many of them wanted a way of contacting relatives who did not live so close to them anymore.
